Six members of an alleged drug gang have appeared in court charged with dealing cocaine, MDMA, ketamine and etizolam from a shisha bar, a double glazing firm, and other addresses throughout Glasgow.
Alleged ringleaders Saad Qayyum and Ryan Carvil are accused of directing Jason Ahmed, Ajaydeep Singh, Muhammad Hanif and Kelly Lyon to commit serious organised crime.
They are said to have dealt drugs from a number of addresses in Glasgow, including The Quay Lounge shisha bar, next to the River Clyde, and double glazing firm Selecta Glasgow Limited in the city's Tradeston area.
They were detained following a police probe into the alleged gang's activities and appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, September 7.
Prosecutors claim Qayyum, of Pollokshields, Glasgow, "did direct Ajaydeep Singh and Muhammad Hanif and others to commit an offence aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime".
It's claimed Qayyum had "conversations, telephone calls, text and social media messages" with them and did "direct and control their involvement in the supply of controlled drugs".
Court papers claim the 34-year-old did "instruct them" around "the transportation, storage, packaging and distribution" of drugs "and the storage, concealment and collection of criminal property, namely sums of money" on his behalf.
He faces a charge under Section 30(1)(b) of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010. The alleged offences are said to have been committed between December 2019 and May 2022 at The Quay Lounge and glazing firm Selecta Glasgow Limited.
Ryan Carvil, of Linthouse, Glasgow, is also charged with breaking Section 30(1)(b) of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010, between December 2020 and April 2022.
Court papers allege the 29-year-old "did direct Ajaydeep Singh and Kelly Lyon and others" to commit serious organised crime offences. The charge states there were "meetings, conversations, telephone calls, text and social media messages" between them.
The charge states he also directed and controlled their alleged drug dealing exploits, from transporting, storing, packaging and dealing drugs, to storing, collecting and concealing drug money.
Ahmed, Singh, Hanif and Lyon all face a charge under Section 28(1) of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010 which states they "did agree with Saad Qayyum and Ryan Carvil" to commit serious organised crime.
Qayyum, Carvil and the others - Ahmed, of the Glasgow suburb of Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire; Singh, of Renfrew, Renfrewshire; Hanif, of Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire; and Lyon, of Milton, Glasgow - are all charged with dealing cocaine.
It's claimed they dealt the class A drug between December 2019 and May 2022 at The Quay Lounge, Selecta Glasgow Limited, Carvil's home near Govan, and elsewhere in the city.
Between the same dates, all six are also said to have dealt class A drug Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, which is more commonly known as MDMA or ecstasy. Qayyum, Carvil, Ahmed, 36, Singh, 28, and Hanif, 33, are also accused of dealing class B drug ketamine.
Prosecutors claim they dealt the drug between the same dates, from the same Glasgow properties and unspecified locations. And Qayyum, Singh and Lyon, 41, are alleged to have sold class C drug etizolam, which is often sold as valium, over the same period.
All six made no plea to the charges against them during yesterday's private hearings. Qayyum, Ahmed, Singh and Hanif were represented by defence solicitor Amy Spencer, while lawyer Peter Malone appeared for Lyon and Carvil.
Qayyum and Carvil were remanded in custody as the case was continued for prosecutors to investigate further. Ahmed, Hanif, Lyon and Singh were released on bail. No future court dates have been set.
