A woman from the US has admitted that she burst out crying in the supermarket after moving from California to northern England.
While others might think it would be crazy to swap warm weather for the drizzly climate of Greater Manchester, she was happy to give it all up for her relationship.
But shortly after the move she found her self in tears and homesick after coming face-to-face with what was available when buying groceries, reports the Mirror.
The experience was a culture shock and was symbolic of the differences between the two countries.
Ashlee, who goes by the username @ashlee4ever, posted a video to Tiktok explaining the cultural differences she had experienced so far since moving to the UK as she did her make up. "I moved to England from California to be with my boyfriend about a month and a half ago," she explained. "Here are the things I've noticed so far".
Ashlee explained she had moved to northern England "outside of Manchester" with her viewers quickly guessing correctly in the comments that she is living in Bolton.
Her first impression of the country is that "no one hates England more than the English. Every time that I meet someone and they find out that I'm from California, their first response is 'Why are you here?'"
However, the "biggest culture shock" she'd experienced since her move across the Atlantic was "grocery shopping". While she admitted "there are some similar brands, but they have different flavours for things."
"Me and my boyfriend were trying to buy some ice cream bars the other day and they only come in packs of like three or four," which was a huge difference to her from the vast quantities sold in multi-packs available in California.
"I'm used to packs of 12 or something, you know, like three or four what is that supposed to do for me? Are you kidding me, that's going to last me a day and a half between the two of us," Ashlee joked.

"After that debacle," she went on to admit that she was, "so homesick and started crying". Ashlee also said that the fresh produce like fruit and vegetables were very different from what she had experienced at home.
"Literally everything is wrapped in plastic," she noted, adding that she had not previously realised that "being from California we have such good quality produce. I've just really noticed the difference out here."
She also admitted that she had found the rainy weather "tricky to get used to" but that she was learning to "always be prepared for rain and the UK's quickly changeable weather. However, she said that "overall, my boyfriend and I are having a really great time" and that despite being homesick she felt she had been "adjusting pretty well".
