Bojan Miovski has hit back at Jamie Carragher after the Liverpool legend ridiculed the decision to award a penalty against England.

The Aberdeen striker was at the heart of a controversial incident in the first half of North Macedonia's final Euro 2024 qualifying fixture against the Three Lions. Miovski was caught by Rico Lewis' flailing hand as the Man City defender rose to head the ball inside the England box. A VAR review resulted in Slovakian ref Filip Glova pointing to the spot. Enis Bardhi had his spot kick saved by Jordan Pickford, but made no mistake with the rebound.

The decision was slaughtered on social media with Carragher joined by the likes of Gary Lineker in slating the officials. Carragher posted: "Bizarre these VAR penalties that get given in Europe. What's more bizarre is they didn't give the one against Maguire." And that invited a post-match reply from Miovski, who clearly didn't think much of the Sky pundit's analysis, responding with "Bla bla blaaa..."

Gareth Southgate's side rescued a point in the end. Seconds after Harry Kane's introduction from the bench, the Bayern Munich striker's presence forced an own goal from Jan Atanasov.

But it was a lacklustre display from England. They have been tagged among the favourites for Euro 2024, but Southgate has come in for criticism for recent squad selections and performances, with his side not looking like a team about to conquer Europe.

Miovski meanwhile, won't be in Germany next summer. His attention will now turn to Aberdeen's Premiership clash at home to Rangers on Sunday, in what is a dress rehearsal for next month's Viplay Cup final.
