Unimpressed Sir Rod Stewart was acclaimed for speaking out in the Record about his disgust at the interruption of the minute's silence at Celtic Park on Remembrance Sunday.

And Aberdeen's meek performance at the same venue didn't go unnoticed by Hotliners either, prompting Kris Boyd to accuse them of trying harder against Rangers. Henry Moffat, Stirling, said: "Totally agree with Rod Stewart about the disruption of the minute's silence. Tens of thousands of Celtic fans like myself are Scottish non-Catholics with no connection to Ireland and deserve the opportunity to pay respect. The club should take action and eject these people, or maybe have the silence 10 minutes before kick off so objectors can enter afterwards."

Gerry Bell, Edinburgh, said: "Well done to Rod Stewart for his comments yesterday. Spoke to a D-Day veteran earlier today felt safer in Dunkirk playing the pipes than in the Gallowgate on Sunday. Shame on people that want to take us through the gutter. Good Celtic supporters are disgusted and embarrassed. Thanks Rod."

On to the Dons and Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: "Kris Boyd was out of order calling into question Aberdeen's professionalism on Sunday. As all Scottish clubs know a bad game is never far away. Boyd should back off and remember he is not connected to Rangers any more. Aberdeen against Rangers at both Pittodrie and Hampden will be tough tests. Boyd can stick to his expertise on the English game."

But Hamilton Bradstock, Kilmarnock, argued: "Between 1988/89 and 2022/23 (not including seasons Rangers were not in the top flight), Aberdeen have amassed 82 points against Rangers compared to 59 against Celtic. Furthermore, about 80% of the points Aberdeen have gained against Celtic came between 1988 and 2005. During the same period the Dons only claimed 53% of their total points against Rangers. Hence, it is Aberdeen's recent(ish) record against Celtic that is particularly poor with them faring far better against Rangers. People can speculate as to why this is. Personally, I reckon Aberdeen deliberately lie down to Celtic."

John Robertson, South Queensferry, said: "Once again Celtic players are mouthing about Champions League. They are not at that level, so give us peace. Brendan Rodgers will never take them anywhere. Only if they played Aberdeen every week would they be successful."

Stuart Mcleod, Stepps, said: "Some Celtic fans are getting their knickers in a twist when others are claiming Aberdeen lie down to Celtic when they come visiting. Can I remind them one or their own called out Dunfermline, accusing the whole club and his fellow professionals as cheats? So are we to believe Jimmy Calderwood asked his players to throw that game and lose their win bonus etc on that day."

Phil Johnston, Bishopton, said: "For the sake of the 19,000 tourists from Aberdeen coming to the big city for the League Cup Final; 'your' team will be wearing the red strip."

Neil Renton, Leith, emailed: "Aberdeen shouldn’t get too carried away about selling out their allocation on the Viaplay Cup Final to Rangers. They’ll soon disappear before the Christmas tree goes up. Remember Dons fans – football is for life, not just for finals."

Stephen Mulhern emailed: "Despite Celtic's injuries piling up, once again David Turnbull had to settle for a place on the bench on Sunday. Even after scoring his trademark strike his somewhat muted response after scoring suggested to me his future lies elsewhere. A player of his ability needs a regular start and if he has any hope of being called into the Scotland squad a move south in January must be on the cards."

Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: "I think caller Henry Moffat has been on the mulled wine a bit too early. He says that Luis Palma will cost Rangers over £20million as he runs riot and bangs in goals in the Champions League. Henry, Celtic haven’t won a home game in the Champions League in over a decade, they haven’t won a single game in Europe in all competitions in over two calendar years.

"You’re not seriously telling us Celtic have £20m-rated players for winning games in the Scottish league where pet officials regularly help out in big games."

Scott Kerr, Knightswood, said: "The amount of penalties Rangers get is an utter disgrace. No other team in Scotland gets two penalties in one game. Refs are trying to keep them in the league race - well forget a two horse race. It's a one horse race with Celtic winning it at a canter."
