If you are looking to nurse your Hogmanay hangover with a bottle of Lucozade, you might face some disappointment, as certain flavours are experiencing shortages. This is due to an issue with the drink company's bottle supplier.

Popular flavours such as Caribbean Crush, Lemon and Cherry may become more scarce on shelves as a result. However, shoppers have been assured that the production issue is being amended and most flavours will be available again in the first quarter of next year.

Lucozade owner Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I has said that works are underway to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

A spokesman for Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I told the Telegraph: "We recently experienced a production failure at our pre-form PET bottle supplier. The plant is based within our factory and is our sole supplier of bottles, a fact that enables us to streamline our packaging transportation requirements and therefore reduce CO2 emissions and allows for close synchronisation with our production needs."

Some flavours are unlikely to be impacted by the shortage, including Lucozade Sports and Ribena drinks, which are owned by the same parent company.

The spokesperson also added that the production of "core" Lucozade Energy Original, Orange and Lucozade Zero drinks will be prioritised. The production of other Lucozade Energy flavours is expected to return to normal early next year.

Some Lucozade fans have shared their frustrations online, with one writing: "When your main pregnancy craving is a flavour of @LucozadeEnergy that you CAN'T FIND ANYWHERE," while another tweeted: "Lucozade need to bring back cherry lucozade, me and my family have been looking for it for weeks!"

It comes as shoppers have been queueing to get their hands on another popular sports drink. Fans of YouTubers KSI and Logan Paul have been spotted in masses trying to buy the pair's hydration drink Prime while it is available at Aldi.

The Daily Record has approached Lucozade owner Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I for comment.
