Police are on the hunt for would-be burglars who targeted four West Lothian homes in one night.
Detectives are appealing for information following four incidents of attempted theft by housebreakings in Whitburn and Broxburn which are being treated as linked.
The first incident was around 1.40am on Tuesday, 14 November, at a property in East Cults Court in Whitburn where the householder was awoken by a noise and realised someone was in the house. The person was then heard leaving the property and driving away.
The second incident happened around 1.55am at a property in Old Pit Road in the town. The householder was woken up by his dog barking and on looking out of the window two people could be seen running up the street.
The third incident happened between 2.30am and 2.50am on Wednesday, 15 November, at a property on Park Terrace in Broxburn. The householder heard noises at his front door and discovered attempts had been made to break in.
Around 3am the householder of a property in Nichol Road in Broxburn was woken by his dogs barking and saw two men jumping over fences and running off in the direction of Pyothall Road.
Enquiries carried out so far indicate that there are two male suspects, both described as of slim build and wearing dark coloured clothing and black trainers with white soles.
Detective Sergeant John Irvine said: “Thankfully nothing appears to have been stolen from these properties but it is vital that we trace the two suspects involved.
“I am appealing for anyone in the surrounding areas, particularly those with private CCTV, to come forward with any information which could be of significance to our enquiries.
“I would also ask any motorists with dash-cams who were driving in Whitburn or Broxburn in the early hours of both mornings to please check their footage in case they have captured anything that could help with our investigation.”
