Anyone who is planning on visiting Greece soon has been urged to take a look at some fresh travel advice issued by the Foreign Office.
The government body has sent out a warning and updated its advice page for holidaymakers who are due to visit Athens and other major tourist hotspots.
The experts have warned that planned protests in university cities on November 17 have the potential to turn violent - meaning that tourists should remain vigilant at all times to keep themselves safe.
Posting an update to the Foreign Office website, government officials said: "There are planned demonstrations on 17 November in Athens and major university cities, including Thessaloniki and Heraklion. These demonstrations could become violent and security forces may deploy tear gas.
"If you are in areas where demonstrations are taking place, remain vigilant, move away quickly from the area, stay aware of your surroundings and follow the advice of local authorities. Further information can be found on the safety and security page."
The Foreign Office also explained that Greek authorities have increased security at more prominent locations, such as popular tourist spots, due to the ongoing events between Israel and Hamas.
The official advice is to "stay aware of your surroundings, stay away from demonstrations and follow the advice of local authorities."
It's also noted on the website that demonstrations carried out in the past have become violent, so if you do find yourself near one unexpectedly, it's recommended that you move to the last known safe space.
The advice continues: "Nationwide strikes and protests can occur at any time and may disrupt road, air, sea travel and cause delays or diversions at border crossings."
