Frankie Dettori stormed to the seventh and final Epsom Oaks win of his incredible career on Soul Sister
Racing legend Frankie Dettori lands a double win as racegoers glam up for a sunny day at the Derby.
Retiring Dettori picked up a Group One prize on filly Emily Upjohn, winning the Dahlbury Coronation Cup during the Derby Festival, Ladies Day in Epsom.
Team Gosden’s hope was a well-backed 11-4 shot for the Classic having bolted up in last month’s Musidora at York, and she delivered in style, staying on brilliantly to beat Savethelastdance and outsider Caernarfon.
Dettori said: “It means a lot, seven Oaks. Her owners the Bamford Family have been great supporters of mine, it’s my last year and it’s my second Classic. Unbelievable. They’re two great fillies, Coronation Cup winner Emily Upjohn and this one, I just want to soak it in now. It was a bit messy at the beginning, I didn’t want to go too wide, and then William Buick stopped very quickly on Eternal Hope but I kept her balanced and she did the rest.”

Racegoers didn't disappoint either, thousands of visitors shrugged off the threat of animal rights protests and train strikes to look their fashionable best for the prestigious horse event.
Organisers had staged the biggest security crackdown in the event’s 243-year history.
