Hamilton Academical
Founded in 1874 by the rector of Hamilton Academy, James Blacklock, the Accies are the only senior club still operating in the UK to have originated from a school team. In recent years the South Lanarkshire side have built a reputation for producing talented young players, with James McCarthy and James McArthur its two best known graduates. Accies returned to the top flight for the first time in two decades in 2008. They remained there for three years before winning promotion again in 2014, taking Hibs' place in the Premiership following a dramatic play-off victory.
