Hearts FC
Founded in 1874, the capital's oldest club has been to the brink and back in recent years. Relegated from the top flight in 2014 after going into administration and being hit by a points deduction and signing ban, Hearts are now beating strong again. The Jambos are effectively fan-owned following a takeover by the Foundation of Hearts, with Edinburgh businesswoman Ann Budge. They are also regarded as a model for other clubs, introducing a living wage for staff and an historic shirt deal with charity Save the Children, en route to winning promotion and the Scottish Championship in 2015.
