Kate Middleton is one of the most famous women in the world but behind closed doors, she’s known as something different.
The Princess of Wales is known by the shortened version of her moniker but nearly all of the other members of the Royal Family, including her husband the Prince of Wales, call her Catherine.
But according to reports in the Mirror, Kate’s real name once nearly caused a clash with King Charles and Queen Camilla, who are reported to have wanted the future Queen to change the spelling. Harry opened up about the issue in his tell-all memoir Spare, released earlier this year, when he claimed Charles and Camilla had at one point wanted Kate to spell her name with a K instead of a C.
Harry claimed this was because there were already two royal cyphers with C in them - for Charles and Camilla - and they didn’t think there should be another.
In Spare, he said: "There were already two royal cyphers with a C and a crown above: Charles and Camilla. It would be too confusing to have another. Make it Katherine with a K, they suggested. I wondered now what came of that suggestion.
"Recalling the moment he and William learned of the proposal, Harry added: "I turned to Willy, gave him a look that said 'You listening to this?' His face was blank."
Kate is known to have a strong bond with the elder royals, and it’s said that they are very aware of her potential when it comes to ensuring the monarchy’s relevance with the general public. And it’s interesting to note that the apparent name change was never fulfilled, and Kate has remained Catherine to those who know her best.

Meanwhile, the future Queen is having a busy day today as she’s delivering a landmark speech as she continues to push her Shaping Us campaign.
The project is something the mum-off-three is passionate about, and aims to highlight the importance of early childhood and influence attitudes towards how the first few years of a child’s life can shape the adult they become. Kate will give a speech at the Design Museum in London, outlining her future plans for the scheme.
She previously said of the project, which has been described by royal sources as Kate’s “life’s work”, that “it’s more important than ever" to support the younger generations.
