Katie Price's terminally ill mother Amy Price has issued fans with a devastating health update following a crucial lung transplant.
The former glamour model's mum underwent the life-changing surgery in 2022 without her two daughters Katie, and Sophie, and her son Dan knowing.
Amy has previously revealed how she believes she briefly died on the operating table after she went into cardiac arrest, reports the Mirror.
In 2017, she was given just three to five years to live after she was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a terminal lung disease.
Speaking on the Katie Price Show podcast, Amy said: "The next day I went into cardiac arrest and they had to pump me to bring me back," before her daughter Katie asked: 'How many times did you die, Mum?' "Only the once," Amy explained before going on to say she has no recollection of the traumatic experience but was apparently shouting: "I can't breathe, I can't breathe."
She continued: "That's because I was filling up with blood and fluid. I was dreaming, thinking 'I've got to survive until 5 O'Clock, I'm hot, I'm sweaty, I can't breathe."
Amy also admitted she believed medical staff were attempting to kill her during her surgery and hoped she would get to 5pm , when they finished their shift.
"I thought, 'You know, if I go … Sophie's alright, Kate will sort herself out, Dan's alright… it's okay to go'," she recalled before adding: "I felt everything was falling in place and I could just go."
However, the 71-year-old has now admitted since her surgery her life has changed, with her days full of 'ups and downs.'
She shared: "The weather has an impact on my breathing, it literally takes my breath away so when I go out at the moment I'm wearing a face mask because it's easier for me to breathe with that then just trying to go along."
In an interview with the Daily Star, she added: "It's a slow process and it's taken a while. I've had quite a few setbacks but that's to be expected but I'm in the right direction. The trouble is when you have a lung transplant it's so easy to sit because you still get a bit breathless but if I don't exercise, I won't move forward. I had a single lung transplant but it would cease up so I've got to exercise to get it working."
Amy was diagnosed with the condition in 2017 and has been receiving medical care ever since with Katie explaining in 2021: "My mum's pretty strong, she's accepted it but she's not one of these people who will dwell on it, even though I know it's on your mind," as Amy said: "I haven't given up yet. I've got to accept the fact that I know I'm going to deteriorate."
