Firefighters had to rescue a man from his car after it become stuck in deep floodwater in Bathgate.
Two fire engines and a specialist team raced to Mill Road in Bathgate after reports of the being trapped in his vehicle after torrential rain on Sunday.
They managed to get the man from his car and he was checked over by ambulance staff following the frightening incident.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.18pm on Sunday, October 29 to reports of a car stuck in floodwater at Mill Road, Bathgate.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and specialist resources to the area.
“Firefighters released one casualty from a vehicle and handed them into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
The heavy rain caused havoc throughout West Lothian yesterday, closing roads.
Rail services were still disrupted on Monday as the line between Livingston and Bathgate was flooded.
