Flapjacks are great to enjoy with a hot cup of tea in chilly weather and it turns out they're easy to make at home.
Mary Berry's recipe for the tasty oaty bites require just four ingredients, which amateur bakers likely already have in their cupboards. Shared on cooking website Good to Know, they are “so easy to prepare and only takes 30 minutes to bake”.
Once, baked, Mary said her tasty treats are best enjoyed warm but can also be stored to enjoy later on or through the week. If you're looking to make more sweet treats, James Martin's apple and pear crumble can finish off a classic Sunday roast.

Mary Berry's 'easy' flapjack recipe
Ingredients
(24 servings)
- 125g butter (plus extra for greasing)
- 90g golden syrup
- 90g light muscovado sugar
- 250g rolled oats
Method
- Start by lightly buttering a roasting tin or a shallow cake tin, around 20cm by 30cm in size.
- Then, combine butter, syrup and sugar in a saucepan and heat gently until the ingredients melt. Once the mixture has fully dissolved, stir in the oats and mix well.
- Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin and smooth the surface using a palette knife.
- Finally, bake in a preheated oven at 180C (160C fan, gas mark four) for approximately 30 minutes.
- Once cooked, leave to cool in the tin for about five minutes then remove and set aside.
- When the flapjacks are mostly solid with a little softness to them, slice into 24 equal fingers and enjoy.
