Meghan Markle may be feeling 'relieved' about spending Christmas with Prince Harry in America amid the royal rift.
A new report from the The Sunday Times claims the couple 'would love' to spend the festivities in the UK but have not been invited. However, the Mirror reports it is expected that the couple will not reunite with his family.
Speculation about the couple's Christmas plans follows an initial report that Harry and Meghan were 'snubbed' from King Charles' recent birthday celebration.
A spokesperson for the couple however told the Daily Mail prior to the celebration: "There has been no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty’s upcoming birthday. It is disappointing the Sunday Times has misreported this story."
The Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers commented: "They wanted it to be known that there was still no contact between them. They were putting it out actively to say that he has had no contact from anyone, his father or the Palace, and that just tells you a lot about the relationship."
As for Christmas this year, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams teased it's unlikely that Prince Harry and Meghan will make the journey over to the UK.
He told GB News : "I suspect there is a mixture of emotions there. That will certainly not change now. They have no base in Britain, things have reached that stage, it is not good. The rift means there is no such possibility at the moment."
Meghan may take this moment to prioritise the happiness of her family, says relationship expert and co-founder of the So Syncd dating app Louella Alderson.
Louella told the Mirror: "Meghan may not want to reconcile with the Royal Family after the way she feels she was treated by them and the British media.
"She may see this as an opportunity to distance herself even further from them and focus on building a happy life with her family in America. Meghan may feel relieved that she doesn't have to return to the UK any time soon and face the Royal Family.
"Regardless of her feelings, it's likely that she wants to prioritise her mental health and well-being, as well as the happiness of her family. For Meghan, this could mean keeping their distance for now and reconciling when all parties are ready for a genuine and positive reunion."
