Outlander’s Sam Heughan has opened up on his love for James Bond as the jury remains out on who will be next to take on the iconic role.
The Scots star remains one of the names tipped for taking over from Daniel Craig as 007 and he’s admitted he’d like nothing more than to “see another Scottish Bond”.
Opening up on his dreams of following in the footsteps of Sean Connery, the actor reflected in a recent interview of a previous audition he did for the epic movie franchise. He told Metro: “It’s a great character, and I’d certainly love to see another Scottish Bond.
"I auditioned for it many years ago. I’d love to have another opportunity. I’m not sure I fit in the suit right now. I would probably have to slim down a bit but yeah, I mean, who knows? It’s a great franchise for sure. I love it."
The betting market for the next James Bond seemingly changes week-by-week with Aaron Taylor-Johnson now favourite at 3/1 to play the famous role.
Reports this time last year suggested that Taylor-Johnson had recorded screen tests for the role of Bond and now he has a 25% chance of being Bond, according to OLBG.
Sam, 43, has seen his career skyrocket thanks to his role as Jamie Fraser in Outlander, the hunky Scots star of the hugely popular time-travel drama set and filmed in Scotland.

And, thanks to his tear-jerking relationship with on screen other half Claire, played by good pal Caitríona Balfe, Sam has reached something of a heartthrob status already, even without stepping into the shoes of the most famous spy in movies.
But it’s not a title that sits lightly with the star. He added: “I don’t consider myself a heartthrob.
‘I know that there’s an aspect of that to the shows that I’ve been in but I don’t really think about it.”
