With the middle of November already in sight, many Scots will be thinking about their Christmas shopping this year.
Whether you are heading to one of Scotland's many spectacular Christmas markets or are after something a bit more low-key, shopping online can never compete with the atmosphere of doing your shopping in person — with some destinations in Scotland make for particularly beautiful surroundings to pick up your Christmas gifts.
A new article by The Times has revealed the seven "prettiest towns for Christmas shopping" in the UK, and one charming seaside destination in Scotland is included.
Coming in at number two on the roundup is St Andrews in Fife. Predominantly known for its golf and university, St Andrews is also an excellent place to do your shopping and soak in the atmosphere this festive season according to the newspaper.
As well as praising the town for being "the most Christmassy" on the list, The Times also singled out St Andrews for its various vintage stores and bookstores — making it the perfect place to head if you're shopping for family or friends who a bit more traditional or old-fashioned.
Meanwhile, the seaside town was also praised for its whisky shops, its cashmere boutiques, and — of course — the various independent stores selling golfing goods.
Once you have done your Christmas shopping, there is plenty left to see and do in St Andrews. While it might be a bit chilly for a round of golf, there is nothing like warming up with a tasty meal or drink — with The Grange Inn, Cellar, and West End Bar being among the highlights for food and drink.
Commenting on the town, Katie Bowman from The Times wrote: "Probably the most Christmassy on this list, St Andrews is as bonnie as a bauble over the festive period (though beware St Andrew’s Day on November 30, when some stores close). Stick to North, Market and South streets for maximum charm factor and shopping opportunities."
Elsewhere, Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire topped the list, with The Times applauding its diverse range of shops that sell everything from aromatic soaps to unconventional homeware.
