Prince Harry's eyes look "haunted" during his recent visit to New York City with Meghan Markle, a body language expert claims.

According to Judi James, the duke appeared "much more serious" while hosting his first in-person Archewell Foundation's event alongside the duchess, who was in contrast showing off "active smiles".

The body language specialist analysed the couple's appearance in NYC earlier this week on October 10 where they both took to the stage in front of an audience.

Harry and Meghan took part in the parent summit as a part of Project Healthy Minds for the second-annual World Mental Health Day Festival at Hudson Yards.

The event focused on raising awareness on how to make social media a safer space for both parents and children, the Express reports.

Ms James told the publication: "Harry’s eye expression looks haunted, as it did during his last few weeks before he quit the UK.

"The subject on the agenda seems to be one that he might find personally troubling and emotive.

"He appears much more serious and even grim-faced, which could be an announcement gesture for his planned approach to the subject."

It's now been over three years since the Sussexes announced their plans to exit the Firm in January 2020, with the couple taking on their final royal engagement two months later.

Back in October 2019, just three months before they stepped down from their royal roles, expert Angela Levin insisted that both Harry and Meghan were miserable and unhappy.

The expert also made reference to Harry's appearance on his royal trip to Africa, which he had taken with Meghan.

Ms Levin told Sky News: "I think [Harry] feels and looks incredibly miserable and unhappy. Meghan is unhappy too."

Speaking of their most recent public appearance, Ms James claims that Meghan portrayed a "very contrasting" look to her husband at Tuesday's summit.

She said: "Meghan’s active smiles suggest sociability and charm."

However, despite appearing happy, the expert claims all may not be as well as it seems.

Ms James continued: "They are not 100 percent prompted by what looks like total happiness as her eye expression can be incongruent, looking sad while she performs a mouth smile, but the intent is clearly there."
