A Rutherglen Glencairn youth team were spurred onto victory after paying their respects to the fallen at the local Cenotaph before their game.
Before Rutherglen Glencairn 2006s defeated Gleniffer Thistle 7-3 on Friday night, the squad visited the Rutherglen First and Second World War Memorial Cenotaph on Chapel Street.
The memorial honours 775 heroic people who died in both World Wars - 518 names from those who passed in the Great War 1914-1918 and 257 names from WWII 1939-1945.

Upon visiting the Cenotaph, the team laid a wreath and held a minute's silence whilst a local piper played, before heading to their game decked out in black armbands with poppies on them.
The boys then held a further minute of silence before kick-off.

He said: “The guys do it every year. Fair play to the boys because it is unusual to see so many teenagers doing something like this.
“They all turned up and that was brilliant to see.
“They were amazing and they understand the importance of it.”
