Viktor Hovland has helped get Europe off to a flying start in the Ryder Cup and admitted chipping in makes you "lose your s**t."
The Norwegian had foursomes round to remember against the USA and set the tone early by chipping in on the first to a huge roar from the buoyant home crowd at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club near Rome. He and fellow Scandinavian Ludvig Aberg took Max Homa and Brian Harman to the cleaners, winning four and three to put early blue on the board.
And he was clearly buzzing during his live Sky Sports interview alongside his Swedish playing partner, who shook off some early nerves to play his part in a dominant display with the hosts currently 2-0 up and ahead in the final two matches. But after commentators apologised several times for some colourful on course language, Hovland continued the trend on live TV.
Asked about how his outstanding shot on the first, Hovland replied: "It wasn;t the most ideal spot, but I knew it was dobale.
"It was just one of those things. You hit a good shot, it goes in and you lose your s**t!"
